There
are three ways to create a longer curtain pole.
Choose a traditional curtain pole which comes extra long in
one piece. These are necessary when you have a single curtain
on a window and cannot have a middle bracket.
Choose a curtain pole which can have many brackets without stopping
the curtain rings or gliders passing over them. These are mostly
metal or wood-look metal but are more suitable for heavier curtains
where more support brackets are required.
Buy two curtain poles and use a bracket in the centre to hide
the joined curtain poles. For example to create a 4 metre curtain
pole you would purchase two 2 metre curtain poles. You would
have two spare finials but one of the spare brackets can be
used as the centre bracket. Make sure each curtain pole is in
one piece. If they are in two they are marked with an "*" on
our site. Some curtain pole ranges (e.g. the Kirsch range) can
be bought in component form and are ideal for this. This method
cannot be used with telescopic curtain poles.
Important Note With longer curtain poles there
is usually a greater distance between brackets. You must obtain
a good fixing and you may experience a bowing effect due to the
weight of the curtain pole between the brackets.
